Three members of the committee met with Sharyn O’Neill, Damien Stewart and Lindsay Hale after school on Thursday 12th October for an hour of frank, friendly round-table discussion about issues pertaining to L3CTs. In this discussion concerns from members around the state were aired, including the burgeoning of paperwork, issues around online testing and difficulties of transferring from country to city. The great mentoring and teaching leadership done by L3CTs was acknowledged.
There was agreement that sometimes aspects of workload can be increased within individual schools and that it is always worth having the discussion on site – Do we need to do this? Is there a better way?
The question of funding for L3CT release from class for their role was also discussed. The L3CTA has been included in ongoing discussions through the Department and the Minister’s office, and although the total funding available for Level 3 time is limited by constraints in the budget, the best and fairest way to support the L3CT role is currently being decided and will be announced soon.
