Term 4 Newsletter 2016 and notice of AGM

12 October 2016 admin

Dear Level 3 Classroom Teacher Association Member,

Welcome back to that crescendo of activity that is Term 4. I hope you’ve had a restful and enjoyable break and are ready for the last lap of the year… This term is a busy one for the Association as well, with our AGM, meeting of the Executive with the Department, and our Celebration event.

Our termly Committee Meeting this term is the Annual General meeting which provides a great opportunity for all members to get together. We are delighted to welcome Angela Rossen as our guest speaker. Angela’s linkage of Science, Art and Sustainability has something to inspire and interest teachers in all settings. The AGM is also our annual review as an organisation of our aims and directions, with reports from committee members, and the opportunity for new committee members and office-bearers. Our organisation stays most relevant to its membership when it has an active committee drawn from a diverse teaching background and new members of the Association are strongly encouraged to take an active part. All positions spill and you can be sure of people to propose and second your nomination and a warm welcome to the committee if you are interested in joining the team. Feel free to contact me on Celia.Elissegaray@education.wa.edu.au if you would like to know more about being on the committee or any of the specific positions of the executive prior to the meeting. Nomination forms can be emailed to l3cta@hotmail.com or brought/completed on the day.

Annual General Meeting

Saturday 29th October 10 am, Hollywood Primary School Library, 117 Monash Avenue, Nedlands

Guest Speaker Angela Rossen, artist-in-residence at the University of Western Australia’s Oceans Institute. Angela’s work focuses on her interest in the Ocean and conservation and sustainability projects. She works regularly with school and community groups, linking science, art and sustainability. Next year the theme of Science week is linked to Sustainability so there’s sure to be something in Angela’s work that inspires or ignites ideas for your school….. See 2016 L3CTA Annual General Meeting agenda.

Our annual Celebration Event will be held on Monday 28th November 4.30pm – 6 pm, at Herdsman Lake, to congratulate new colleagues, celebrate our role and ongoing leadership in classroom teaching and catch up with leaders from the Department and from both sides of politics. A flyer/reminder will follow.
